If you think poor diet or stress causes ulcer, you are mistaken. You should read this.
For now, we will only deal with stomach ulcer, also known as 'gastric ulcer'. This is a type of peptic ulcer that strikes, once there are painful sores in the stomach lining. However, it can also occur in the small intestine, affecting the thin lining of the small intestinal wall. When this happens, it is no longer stomach ulcer.
Stomach ulcer can be caused by 'Helicobacter pylori bacterium' or anti-inflammatory medication.
1. The Helicobacter pylori bacteria: This is the main germ (bacteria) that lives in the lining of the stomach. The chemicals they produce, at times cause irritation and inflammation.
2. Long term use or overuse of anti-inflammatory medication such as aspirin, clopidogrel, ibuprofen, or naproxen can cause stomach ulcer.
When you notice any of these signs, an underlying cause could be stomach ulcer:
1. Abdominal pain
3. Weight loss
5. Loss of appetite
Take antibiotics that would destroy the germ colony, and use drugs that aid healing.
You could also get drugs that reduce the acid content in the gastric juice.
